Barcelona are the bookmakers’ favourites ahead of Manchester United to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.
Arsenal seem to have given up hope of Ozil signing at new contract before his current deal expires in the summer.
He will be able to talk to clubs over a free summer transfer in the New Year.
Manchester United are also keen on Ozil, while Chelsea have emerged as an interested party.
But bookmakers Ladbrokes have Barca as the clear favourites to get a deal done.
They have the Nou Camp club priced at 11/4 to be Ozil’s next move, even though the Germany international previously played for their rivals Real Madrid.
United boss Jose Mourinho is a fan of the 29-year-old but his club sit out at 3/1 to sign Ozil.
A move to Chelsea, as unlikely as it seems, would be a massive blow to Arsenal’s pride and they are 4/1 to snap him up.
But the bookies also have Schalke at 8/1 to take on their former youth product, which is not out of the question.
After all, Schalke look set to lose their star winger Leon Goretzka by the end of the season, with Barcelona one of the sides interested in his signature.
At 22, Goretzka has age on his side compared to Ozil and could be a sound investment for the future.
Schalke are said to have offered their star man a £200,000-a-week contract to remain in Germany.
And that means they have the budget to pay Ozil a competitive wage to lure him back to his hometown of Gelsenkirchen.
