Liverpool open talks over £42million Mexico star Hirving Lozano… but Arsenal want him too
Liverpool have opened talks to sign £42million-rated Mexican star Hirving Lozano, but he is wanted by Arsenal as well.
The Reds have made contact over signing the PSV forward, who has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances this season.
Jurgen Klopp is worried Barcelona will swoop again for Philippe Coutinho, having tried to sign him for £115m in the 25-year-old summer.
That comes with Barca’s chief executive Oscar Grau going on record to say the La Liga giants will go back in for him again in the winter window.
Added to that, the Barcelona players have started a public charm offensive to try and unsettle the player.
Klopp has lined up Lozano as a possible replacement but Liverpool won’t get the 22-year-old easily.
Arsene Wenger is a big fan too and Arsenal are considering him as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
There is growing concern behind the scenes at the Gunners about the Chilean’s lacklustre displays in recent games.
Sanchez is out of contract at the end of the season and Wenger would much prefer to see him go to Paris St-Germain, having asked about a swap deal involving attacked Julian Draxler.
Wenger knows he needs an exciting signing to lift the club’s floundering season, with them out of the Champions League and lying fifth in the Premier League 19 points off streaking ahead leaders Manchester City.
PSV signed Lozano from Mexican side Pachuca in June and handed him a six-year contract.
He has scored seven times in 24 appearances for his country.
