Newcastle ready to lend Zinedine Zidane a hand by signing Real Madrid ace in January
Newcastle are set to spark a transfer snowball by signing Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, according to reports.
Rafael Benitez is apparently in contact with his former side about the possibility of taking Real Madrid’s Casilla to St James’ Park.
The Spanish shot stopper has only started seven La Liga games this term of which most came when covering Keylor Navas who was ruled out with injury.
It is well known that Zinedine Zidane is in the market for a new goalkeeper in January and that would push Casilla down to third choice.
So Spanish outlet Don Balon are reporting that Newcastle will take Casilla off Zidane’s hands to help with the arrival of Real’s new number one.
Rafael Benitez has reportedly been in contact with Real Madrid.
It is suggested that many supporters do not think that Casilla has the qualities to be successful at the Bernabeu.
So Newcastle will gladly offer him regular Premier League football, if they can fend off the competition from Deportivo La Coruna.
Benitez is still unsure as to what funds will be available for him to strengthen the squad in the winter window.
The Magpies are in the middle of a take over and could have a war chest at their disposal if Mike Ashley sells up in time.
Kiko Casilla could be on the move to Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Real are still hoping to tempt Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga to the Spanish capital.
Don Balon add that the deal is “practically done” to take him to the Bernabeu.
But Zidane has rebuffed recently rebuffed those claims in the local press.
