Manchester United will back Jose Mourinho to dip into the transfer market and sign a new forward this month, reckons Sky Sports pundit Matt Murray.
Romelu Lukaku has struggled of late in front of goal after initially starting his Manchester United career on fire.
The Belgian is also set to miss United’s next couple of games with concussion and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic absent for the next month through injury, Mourinho may feel he needs more support up front.
Express Sport reports that Atletico Madrid frontman Antoine Griezmann is the player Mourinho wants at Old Trafford, while Barcelona are also keen.
Former Wolves goalkeeper Murray believes United will support Mourinho in the transfer market and perhaps with a bid for France star Griezmann.
“Yeah I think they will (back Jose Mourinho),” Murray said.
“I think he manages up very well and the way they backed him to buy the likes of (Paul) Pogba, I would have thought they would.
“I think he’ll be saying ‘look, you get me Griezmann’ for example, ‘if you can get me him then he’ll do the business’.
“I think he’s also got to keep hold of (David) De Gea. He’s got to keep him because he’s absolutely fantastic for them. Away at Arsenal he was absolutely outstanding.
