United Kingdom: hundreds of vehicles burned down in a parking lot in Liverpool

The Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said initial investigations indicated that an accidental fire inside a vehicle caused others to burn.


Liverpool firefighters in northern England were fighting a huge fire in a parking garage on Sunday that destroyed hundreds of vehicles and caused the evacuation of occupants in buildings in the vicinity.

Police said all the cars inside the multi-storey Kings Dock parking lot that has a capacity of 1,600 vehicles were destroyed and that the owners should contact their insurers.

An international horse show that was scheduled at Liverpool Echo Arena, next to the parking lot, was canceled. The organizers said that all the people and horses were safe.
