Floyd Mayweather Jr has yet again sent a message Conor McGregor’s way.
Earlier this week, the former five-weight world champion teased a move to the MMA world on Twitter and Instagram.
Forty-year-old Mayweather did so by posting videos of him in an Octagon to the social media platforms.
Mayweather’s antics inevitably led to talk of him rematching McGregor in an MMA fight, something the boxer hinted at during the press tour for his August bout with the UFC lightweight champion.
It didn’t take too long for McGregor to get wind of Mayweather’s videos, and he responded in typical style.
He tweeted: “Hahahaha very good. Keep up the good work my son. Yours sincerely, Senior.”
McGregor followed up that tweet with another which included a picture of himself and his son, Conor Jr.
The accompanying caption read: “F**k the Mayweathers.”
Somewhat surprisingly, Mayweather refrained from issuing an immediate response to his most recent opponent, something we’ve become accustomed to him doing.
However late last night, he seemingly fired back at ‘The Notorious’ with a mock-up picture of him inside the Octagon wearing MMA gloves, which of course had The Money Team logo emblazoned across them.
McGregor addressed the prospect of rematching Mayweather earlier this week and revealed that he still harbours hope of avenging his loss to the Olympian .
“We’ll see, I’m currently in negotiations to face my next opponent,” he told Adam Glyn. “We have many options.
“There’s current interim lightweight champion [Tony Ferguson]. There’s an undefeated Dagestani [Khabib Nurmagomedov]. There might be a big Russian event.
“There’s obviously the [Nate] Diaz trilogy. Of course, the Mayweather fight is there.
“We’re just at the table at the moment. Times are good.”
