The Federal Government is set to notify the MultiChoice group that their operations, in Nigeria, will come to an end in 2019 following the expiration of their license in June next year.
According to a letter made available to Sun News, to that effect issued on Tuesday, by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), the license issued to the group which operates DSTV and GOTV brands, in 2014 will not be renewed because it was not in line with Digital Switch Over (DSO) White Paper.
If Multichoice will ever operate in Nigeria again after expiration of its license, the only option left for them is to go to licensed Signal Distribution company, that is Pinnacle Communications Ltd or ITS.
GOTV has been accused of being used as a conduit to siphon foreign exchange from Nigeria by its parent company, South African Multichoice .
