Technically, robots can now open doors to exit a room
It’s called SpotMini, and it’s one of the Boston Dynamics robots, which are getting closer and closer to the stage of a scary sci-fi movie. SpotMini has “learned” a new trick at home. Basically, robots are now able to work in groups to exit a room by opening doors.
The robot was presented in June 2016 and updated in November 2017. Actually, it is not the first time that Boston Dynamics quadrupeds open doors, but SpotMini is able to do it more smoothly and working in a group, keeping a door that auto closes, open to exit two robots.
As can be seen in the following video published by the company, the new and improved SpotMini not only opens the door for itself, but also keeps it open for its colleague.
If the video has inspired you more fear than amazement, you are not alone. The more your abilities resemble human ones, the more you tend to think of them as the next colonizers of planet Earth.
