For some time, we have seen how different manufacturers began to implement the so-called night mode or blue light filter on their mobile devices. What this function does is reduce the amount of blue light emitted by the screen so that it is less annoying and, in theory, help us sleep better, although its effectiveness is not clear here.
Sony implemented the night mode in the Xperia XA1 family as part of its Xperia Actions functions, but it seems that this feature will be ruled out very soon. As confirmed by the Sony Xperia account on Twitter, the night mode will disappear from the Xperia XA1 with the Oreo update , so we do not expect to see it on more devices.
An update that will bring new functions
The confirmation of this decision comes directly from the Sony Xperia Twitter account, specifically in response to a user who asked why only the Xperia XA1, XA1 Ultra and XA1 Plus had the option to reduce the blue light of the screen. As we said, this option is integrated within the Xperia Actions section.
In its response, Sony confirmed that they have no plans to take night mode to other Xperia phones and suggest using third-party applications to achieve the same effect. In addition, in the same message Sony confirms that the blue light filter will disappear from the Xperia XA1 series when it is upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo. What remains is to know when the update will arrive.
In the Play Store there are many applications that offer the option to reduce the blue light of the screen, so it will remain a possibility in Xperia phones, but not from the manufacturers.
