Apparently, and as reported from WABetainfo , WhatsApp will go beyond the “customer service” with its “Business” service . A series of terms implemented in the beta version suggests that businesses can buy advertising through Facebook and send it to their customers.
As they explained in the medium, the terms may change in the future before they are announced by WhatsApp, but everything indicates that the messaging tool will change them very soon with “Business service” in mind.
WABetainfo states that the service will send more or less periodic advertising to its users. In addition, the terms of the beta version also clearly states what WhatsApp will share with other Facebook companies:
- Information provided when you use WhatsApp, in addition to your profile name and phone number.
- Information about how you use WhatsApp, the date you registered your account, the last time you used it, the types and frequency of the features you use, and listings of business directories and sponsored content or ads with which you interact.
- Information about your device and application, as well as your operating system, version of the application, location and identifiers (such as device IDs and FB ID).
In the new terms, WhatsApp also indicates that companies can be blocked from contacting its users. And also, these new terms should be accepted when they are added in the future.
