Apple is developing the next generation of iPhones, according to leaks, which will consist of three models that will have something very important in common: Touch ID disappears completely and is replaced with Face ID. All three will have a similar design to the iPhone X , with differences in sizes and prices.
The information comes Mark Gurman, Bloomberg’s reliable source. The new generation of the iPhone will have three models: a 6.5-inch OLED screen, a successor to the iPhone X with its same dimensions, and a cheaper model with a 6.1 “LCD screen.
The iPhone 6.5 “OLED, known by the code name of D33, would have a resolution of 1242×2688 pixels, and would include the highest technical specifications in the family of smartphones, similar to the second generation of the iPhone X of 5.8”.
The LCD model would be the successor and replacement of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The new iPhones would arrive in the third quarter of the year, accompanied by the new version of iOS.
Apple is expected to completely discard Touch ID on all its devices, both on iPhone and iPad. However, following the recent inclusion of fingerprint reader in the MacBooks Pro, there is still the question of whether the company will also include facial recognition in a review of its laptops, or will it leave Touch ID lagging behind those devices.
