How to disable the new Facebook facial recognition feature
Facebook has started to activate a new facial recognition system in its social network, available both on the desktop and in its mobile apps. If you do not want Facebook to collect more of your biometric data, there is a simple way to disable the function.
However, this also means that Facebook will have even more of your biometric data, and not all users like to release such information.
Fortunately, there is a way to deactivate the facial recognition system (at least for now). The feature is not yet active worldwide, but if you are in a country where Facebook has launched its new facial recognition, you can deactivate it as follows:
To turn off facial recognition on your desktop, click on the down arrow at the top of any Facebook page and then select Settings. From there, click “Face Recognition” from the left column, and then click “Do you want Facebook to be able to recognize you in photos and videos?” Select Yes or No based on your personal preferences.
On mobile, click on the three dots below your profile pic labeled “More” then select “View Privacy Shortcuts” then “More Settings,” followed by “Facial Recognition.” Click on the “Do you want Facebook to be able to recognize you in photos and videos?” button and select “No” to disable the feature.
If you have received notification that the social network has just launched that feature and you do not want it to recognize your face, follow the above steps.
