In the build up of the confusion at the national assembly gate Tuesday morning, a group of youths apparently in solidarity with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have just booed Hon. EJ Agbonniyiama.
Agbonniyiama is a member of the House of Representatives from Edo State.
He was elected on the platform of the PDP but defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, some 3 months ago.
Upon his arrival to the Assembly complex this morning, the lawmaker was confronted by a battery of Journalists who have been denied access into the compound to speak on the unusual scenarios around the complex.
He blamed the whole issue on the PDP, saying that the party was blackmailing them.
He however said they were in the national assembly for the interest of the people
But hardly had he let out more words during interview than the group of youths started chanting “APC has failed”.
The lawmaker was forced to leave the scene.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yussuff Lasun, arrived at the National Assembly at 12pm.
His convoy was not stopped by the operatives of the Department of State Services at the entrance.
It also emerged that about 60 senators and 120 members of the House of Representatives, mostly PDP members, are currently waiting at the White House lobby to prevent any illegal sitting by the pro-Buhari lawmakers who are allegedly planning to impeach the President of the Senate as well as the House Speaker.
Addressing journalists, a PDP House member, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf, said the unfolding development gives credence to the rumour that there is a plot to effect leadership change in the parliament.
